Philly can breathe a big sigh of relief. Thanks to Governor Shapiro, January 1st will not mark the beginning of the end of safe, frequent, & reliable mass transit in our city. I'm grateful to the Gov for "getting stuff done" & investing in the mobility & economic success of our communities. (1/3)

Important to remember also that while homosexuality was dropped from the DSM after gay lib adovcacy, transsexuality was further pathologized. Gay lib had distanced itself from "embarrassing" part of the community like trans/mad/poor/BIPOC queers since the founding of GLF.
Gay liberation activists' work to depathologize homosexuality was positive because it called out serious abuses of power and fought for a holistic view of well being. Unfortunately, many tried to distance themselves from other Mad people as well. Queer lib should mean bodily autonomy for us all.
Doctors (as they currently exist) are not our friends. The medical establishment's relationship to us has always been one of gatekeeping and violence. We do not need to hand them more power.
