Passport checks are not border control.
Control means returns agreements, intelligence sharing, lawful routes and enforcement that actually functions. Brexit removed those.
System failure costs money too. Usually public money.

If this petition wanted traction, it wouldn’t lead with “growth”. It would lead with borders. Brexit destroyed cooperation on returns, intelligence and enforcement. Rejoining the EU would bring border control to the UK.
