I don’t love this idea.
Practically, reducing AFRICOM to a sub command could increase bureaucratic hurdles and slow counterterrorism initiatives.
Also worth noting that EUCOM and AFRICOM have significantly different mission sets, particularly with the focus on piracy in Africa.

I don’t love this idea.

Another US airstrike in Somalia happened yesterday, near Kismayo. AFRICOM released no casualty figures or other information beyond saying it "targeted" al-Shabaab. This is by my count the 87th strike or series of strikes announced by AFRICOM this year, by far the most ever in a year in Somalia.
