I eventually landed a job with a natural resource/science agency in the 1990s, but that was only after working in a science job tracking Africanized bees in Guatemala for 2.5 years, working 3 more years as a fisheries observer in Alaska, and then going back to grad school for a MS in marine affairs

Imma need a Flock camera watching these chuds locked in The Veldt with their Africanized 🐝 dogs
These people think that there are genes "for" speed, agility, and bomb sniffing.

Why would an autistic preschooler know about Africanized honeybees?

I have no idea. But I didn’t want to die

Tesla drivers are so much worse they are like Africanized bees

Conversely ten years later I DID want to die. Glad that plan failed.

Now I once again no longer wish to die. But thanks to PROZAC, I won’t be scared of Africanized honeybees outside.

This is a simulation

Do not be scared

This is a simulation of the last thing you will see
right before the Killer Bee goes to kill you

Obviously, not in killer mode here
because its feeding on the
desert broom flower

if confronted by Killer Bees,
RUN!

Yeah we should rename them like the "africanized bee" to make them scary to white people

Religion is another semantic domain of interest. Even in areas like Mozambique and the Zambezi Valley, where the colonial culture gradually became increasingly Africanized, the prazeros were at least nominally Catholic at all times.

they were supposed to be Africanized bees, that was the real danger 🙄

(I saw an "Active Bees In Area" sign in Phoenix once, at the old Papago Amphitheater, but I don't know if that's specifically about Africanized bees.)

I’m thinking like Africanized bees let loose on the dum(b) befuddled types. Bigly yuge loss of life and an improvement in the gene pool… but frame it as a MAHA alternative of course.

I’m watching The Bees (1978), which is about killer bees, something I expected to be a much bigger part of the horrors of the 2020s.

So far I am unsure of it knows it’s a movie about colonialism, but I do know I have Marge Simpson’s voice running through my head on a loop.

You have to be careful with cross-breeding honeybee species. That's how we got the Africanized Honeybee AKA the Killer Bee. Bees are wild and can swarm and break containment.

Please read my post on the term “Africanized,” it is scientifically incorrect, and potentially insulting. Also, crossbreeding was not a problem with South African and Brazilian bees. The “problem,” was the intern that opened the hive doors and released all of the bees.🌱🐝

Worth noting that killer bees only became "Africanized" after Reagan got elected.

Isn't calling them Asian troubling in the same way we were told to worry about "Africanized" bees a couple of decades ago.
September 27, 2026 at 9:20 AM
I'm old enough to remember when people were worried about killer bees (Africanized honey bee). They differed from honey bees mostly in unusual and unexpected aggressive behavior.
September 27, 2026 at 5:25 PM
why were killer honey bees created by man? Africanized honey bees, commonly called “killer bees,” are a man‑made hybrid created in Brazil in the 1950s through a deliberate crossbreeding experiment, but they became a widespread problem after an accidental release
