The Theology of Liberation, a Socialist reading of Christ, is Brazilian. Also, deep religious syncretism with Afro-Indigenous beliefs is the rule, not the exception. +

As an unambiguously Black Afro Latino. And the child of an Afro, Colombian, and Afro Brazilian. My parents drilled into me that I was no different than my American counterparts. I had militant parents. They understood at their big ages what I didn’t.
