on my hands and knees looking for springtails, I noticed these tiny mating rove beetles on rocks in a small stream. April, 2022
the ever-helpful borisb on iNat suggests Stenus alacer and notes the male's more slender (one on the right then?)

Eridolius alacer : a parasitoid of Sawflies. I found this on one of the windows of our local Tesco, Maryhill 09/10/24

According to my local biological records officer, this is only the 2nd record for Lanarkshire.

せっかくラテン語教室に通い始めたので、いろいろ辞書引いて活用変化表を見るなど楽しんでいるのですが、やはりカウリスに登場する魔獣たち皆ここから採用された名前なんだなって思いながら眺めるの楽しいよね。
