Co-facilitated a global gov design jam today and it was great! I think it’s a good pattern to attend one and host one in turn which means next year the Albertopolis jammers may well be on again!

Imperial on Wednesday had gowns, hats, a mace, violins, a choir, God Save the King and something by Elgar. They went full Albertopolis and it was great.

This conference on Artificial Intelligence in Arts and Industry (AI2) might be of interest to some of the DH crowd. I'm speaking about some ongoing work with language models, and how we can use their failures productively: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ai2-artifi...

As we have Albertopolis in the west of London, can we rename Eastbank Khanopolis please? A fine tribute to Sadiq.

If it gladdens you just a little, Imperial College London does this (and being part of Albertopolis, that's three national museums as our neighbours): www.imperial.ac.uk/admin-servic...

Albertopolis is the informal and unimaginative name given to the area of South Kensington incorporating the Albert Memorial, Royal Albert Hall and the museums.

To be honest, it's worth visiting just to see and walk around the building, which is peak Albertopolis. Oh, and Dinosaurs! And whales! And everything else under the sun...

the "Albertopolis" area used for a run of "International Exhibitions 1871-4" but they mostly failed to make profit. then there was a lull ... this one running only for a month I had not come across ... the big profitable ones were Fisheries 1883, Health 1884, Inventions 1885, Colonial & Indian 1886

Good for you, not for me. Manor House & South Ken stations both have a lot of steps. That made getting to the Albertopolis museums from E5 extremely difficult when I was on my own with the kids. Otherwise it was 3 buses. The RA, on the other hand, was a single bus so we went there a lot.

Queen Victoria opened the Royal Albert Hall on 29 March 1871 - a dome of glass and iron rising over a district Londoners called Albertopolis, for the Prince Consort dead ten years. Some 7,000 filled the seats that night. Would you have been among them?
