Things I want to do.
Even more Solomon Kane comics. I could just say that because making a Kane series every year would make me perfectly happy.
Also, Almuric.

Almuric is REH's (and possibly a ghost writer's) Barsoom. Almuric is the planet Esau Ironhand appears on. Troglodytes, gargoyles, strange flora and fauna-- an opportunity to do things from another angle.

More Conan.
But also Kull, Bran Mak Morn, Cormac Mac Art-- making a different barbarian hero.

I've mentioned REH characters I'd love to work with or continue to work with. Including Almuric, Howard's sword & planet adventure starring Esau Ironhand (Almuric may have been co-written).
Honestly, I could work with REH characters for 20 yrs.

I should have more modesty but: I would nail it.

But happiness isn't just what you work on, it's how you work. Marvel & DC just don't accommodate my scheduling and need for creative control.

I could adapt Almuric-- and it would be better and I'd be happier.

16. Howard had a great fondness for both carnivorous apes (e.g. "Rogues in the House," "Hour of the Dragon," etc.) and winged men (e.g. "The Garden of Fear," "Almuric," "Wings in the Night") as foes in his fiction, and managed to combine both in one in "Queen of the Black Coast."

My second read for Cimmerian September, Howard's Almuric. This planetary romance was serialized in Weird Tales in '39 3 years after his death-an entertaining yarn featuring Esau Cairn transported to a savage world where every day is a struggle for survival

i'm pretty sure he never wrote anything resembling what you'd call sci-fi now...his (posthumously published) almuric stuff (which was possibly completed by otis kline) is kinda sorta, in that it's sword-and-planet stuff, but c'mon

Just the beginning!
And there's Conan, Kull, El Borak, Bran Mac Morn, Valeria, Breckenridge Elkins, Zula of Zamballah, Cormac Mac Art, Ironhand of Almuric, Belit, Black Vulmea, Dark Agnes de Chastillon :)

He empezado a leerme los relatos de piratas de Robert E. Howard. Y he de decir que la prosa de este señor ha envejecido muy bien (salvo excepciones como Almuric). Aventura pura.

Robert E Howard was fully aware of Conan's limits; he wrote stories like Almuric that mention Conan-like characters in the modern world (immediately arrested) and reshapes straightforward tough guys for the modern world in his Sailor Steve Costigan stories.

So final tally for Cimmerian September-in prose I read Howard Review #5, Almuric, The Howard Collector, The Book of Robert E. Howard & The Second Book of Robert E. Howard. I started, but am only a few entries in to The Horror Stories of Robert E. Howard 1/

"Thak" was also the name of the god of the Guras, quasi-ape men in Robert E. Howard's posthumously published sword-and-planet novel ALMURIC.
