I saw AlphaBits at the grocery store yesterday (I guess Post made another batch?) and was a little sad my current diet wouldn't allow me to eat something so sugary. I'd love if some manufacturer made a healthier version; I don't think anyone ever outgrows fun-shaped food.

There's also the fact that visual media can be very abstract, whereas written works a key component is again intent. The author had a reason for writing what they did. Otherwise you could find profound meaning in a bowl of Alphabits cereal, and most folks don't.
