It's worth noting that is how a lot of machine learning prior to LLMs worked. You have some kind of reward/scoring function that you optimize to get the behavior you want. Alphastar was basically generating various scoring functions and seeing how they performed against each other (2017ish?)

It’s true, I told my boss that the c section was carried out on a Maquet Alphastar before telling her I had a girl!

When I had my second child by caesarean I was an assistant buyer on a national framework for operating tables. I told my boss that the surgery was on a Maquet Alphastar before even telling her I had a girl.
My partner is HVAC guy, and when we’re watching movies and shows, he’ll watch someone walking through a house and he’ll quietly say things like “Honeywell thermostat.”

We beat starcraft by having a hyper fast clock speed for alphastar, something that seems far away for generalist transformers, but alphastar is the closest thing to what I'm aiming at in terms of a model solving it
