how tf did you make an llm bad at sql.

wow LLM comments are even less readable than LLM written READMEs. extreme amount of mental effort required to parse and untangle them

google: "we have made the only LLM that can design a distributed system without vomiting. also, it cannot write sql. this follows our previous llm, which was too neurotic to write code at all and acted like it was afraid of being beaten."

...

so, like, were these LLM designs?

as someone who uses llms, i'm totally fine, even happy, about lobste.rs being an anti-llm space. if you want pro-llm stuff you can look anywhere else on the internet. if we want a moderate sort-of-llm community we can create one. niche communities with hardcore value systems are good.

Well I guess the LLM slopocalypse is finally starting to descend on nextest

Replies here are hilariously anti-Al for a stupid regex issue that any LLM process would have been fine with
this is categorically insane

I'm not sure I'll ever forgive the AI-LLM boom for forcing me to gain expertise about it.

reading a scientific paper that uses AI

ask author if their AI is machine learning or LLM

she doesnt understand

I pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is machine learning and what is LLM

she laughs and says "it's a good study, sir"

its LLM

do you say "please" to your LLM?

or do you say "plz"?

If nothing else the specific misbehavior described in the user story above is MORE likely with pre-LLM resume processing than LLM-era.

Guess those LLM checks started to bounce.

the LLM-written bio is really the chef’s kiss here

A reference probably only understood by 3 people in academia, but I think I’ve figured out a way to put my finger on LLM-speech’s ineffable badness:

AI can’t smell.

Making Discord server posts publicly searchable adds them to every LLM training dataset.

perfecting my llm voice for cringe purposes 😇
You're right, that's a great point. Video games are such a fun activity – it's like escaping into another world. It's not just a hobby, it's quietly shifting the paradigm.

Let's be honest, he stuck it through an LLM.
October 27, 2026 at 10:35 PM
The nuanced discussion on LLM can’t happen for a long time because the education around it has been deliberately muddied in order to permit massive methods of harm.

There is no accessible source of truth for the general public regarding how LLM works, && how it different from ML and AI.
I've come to the conclusion it's fine to just be blanket anti-AI right now. We can have the nuanced discussions about local models, limited usage, etc. later. It's simply not possible to have those discussions right now.

The current emergency is AI as fascist movement. We need to fight that.

weird thing i have tried to describe before where LLM mistakes are simply inhuman. like they are entire types of mistakes that were unfathomable previously, literally could not have been made because the specific mix of competence and stupidity necessary was impossible
