Judge Skeleton “Skelly” Wright is an Althar, a Demon of Death, representing one of the divine factions which enforces the will of the Court.

Despite his intimidating appearance, he is the most outwardly friendly of the justices.

An Althar, a demon of the Pantheon of Death. They maintain the circle of death and rebirth, strictly enforcing its mechanisms. They have, however, been known to deviate from their task, performing favors for well-meaning mortals in exchange for an IOU.

V, the fearbird, is on some sort of service pole, looking over a city when suddenly a hole appears in the sky.

It does seem that the bull horns were used in a religious sense. There's a possibility they're a stylized representation, and were not literally like that in shape (as in Evans' reconstruction). I have to say, the depiction of the althar in Xeste 3 is really gnarly!

Sorry, I don't speak 🌾
Something of a precursor to a comic that's taking shape currently!

• • • {( #LeonXClaws #Valentia #Floraverse #Althar #Owel #Outdoors #FrequencyX #AurorianFox #PygmyPyzky #Comic #Sketch #DigitalArt #CSP #ClipStudioPaint #Antennae #Desert #Robe #Color #Highlights )} • • •
A pair of creatures in a wheat field are exchanging words while looking toward the fourth wall. "Did you make a friend, V?" asks the figure on the left, an Aurorian fox named Leon X-Claws (he/them.) "I'm not sure..." replies Valentia (she/her), the pygmy pyzky, "All the flowers here keep chanting about some "Serpant's Sacrifice Approaching." It's creepy." To which, Leon replies "It's culture!"

Page six. The borders have taken on the quality of cracks or fractures in a more solid surface. Some panels take on red hues, others take on magenta or soot grays. Leon throws a paw to the air with an all-too-excited grin & declares "It means gruesome, excruciating Death for we two poorly-prepared pilgrims! That is, unless someone with a brave heart- (& a pair of wings) "You ♥" he says, pointing a claw at a very disgruntled, soaking Valentia. "Gives our heroes directions to water, & soon!" Leon continues to speak, with a sharp smirk on his muzzle "unless... Ohhh I might have known. You WANT to walk back & do this all-day hike again~ V, I'd be more than happy-" Valentia realizes what he is saying with alarm, droplets flying from her petals as her antennae shoot upright. She takes on the same ashy grey quality that Leon has had with wide eyes. A large panel with a cross shape on it, bearing the same fracture as the borders interrupts the soliloquy.

Page eight. The borders surrounding each panel have become consistent & the contents of no scene escape their boundaries. Through the page, Valentia flies, harried by voices that come from all over. They are alien & strange, & she does not understand. As she flies quite a long distance over the endless fields of grass, she notices milestones in everything: a single dead tree, a knoll, a hill, a cairn, a path. Every little quality of the world becomes so significant among endless waving fields of grass. When at last she asks "Hello?" the voices stop, & the saturation leaves her as she hovers in the air, awaiting reply.

Page nine. The borders of each panel have become rigid & boxy, barely any slant to them whatsoever. Valentia's outlines disappear & she stares ahead without seeing. Her hue becomes yellow, long after it was called. Breaks in the panels reveal a strange scene playing out as she spaces out. "That power does not belong to you. Return it- NOW!" exclaims a towering figure in the foreground, looming over the phoenix from before as it hunches down like a wild animal on their wings, stalking around the larger figure. It opens it's mouth to speak, but the panels break & pull away. The words "Make me" are implied to be what the phoenix says. Valentia is once-again alerted out of her daze by the sound of a voice. Several voices, coming from the direction of the sun. The world takes on a green hue yet the sky remains as ash gray as before.
