1/ That route is Moor Rd/Alwinton Ter & it is a designated cycle route. It’s not perfect as the Moor Rd section isn’t an LTN & dangerous driving gets raised on our FB - but it is a very useful route if you want to bypass the High St.

Newcastle City Council has published plans that include the removal of 500m of cycle lanes from Gosforth High Street, including the protected cycle lane from Salters Road to Regent Farm Road.

Really, and we've only just got started on winter. I moved near alwinton just after the bad snows that blocked the roads for weeks! I was firmly told by my elderly neighbours to always have 3 months supplies in.

When I lived near alwinton gps and mobiles didn't work plus the houses weren't numbered so I'd have to stand in the middle of the road and wave madly so they could find the house. Fortunately there wasn't much traffic apart from sheep and tractors.

Works to upgrade the Alwinton car park with new EV chargers and refurbished toilets begin today and will continue until mid-November.
