Contributor: Why public lands should stay public and protected
For 120 years, America's public lands policy has emphasized 'the greatest good of the greatest number.' 'Drill, baby, drill' isn't that.

This is one of the absolute best opportunities out there for grad students in #amwest history #skystorians
Please circulate: CFP for Western History Dissertation Workshop. This is an exceptional chance for advanced grad students working on a western history topic to get feedback from leading scholars in the field and to do it in the Arcadian paradise that is the Huntington Library.

For TIME's Made by History, I wrote about how science became weaponized & distorted in the Arctic Refuge debate.

Ranging from Reagan to Trump, the piece discusses caribou biology, whistleblowers, & the Republican Party. And it includes a terrific cartoon! 📗🗃️ #AmWest🦌❄️

Environmental Historian friends:

I'm prepping a North American Environmental History-themed capstone senior seminar.

What books have you used recently w/ advanced undergrads that *worked*, and why? Anthologies or articles (esp. to drive methodology discussions), or monographs.

1st day teaching an upper division Modern Native American History. Small but engaged group of students, almost all women. 1/2 with Native backgrounds—Navajo, Apache, Mayan. Mostly non-majors (some AIS minors), which will make for unique challenges. Should be a great semester! 🗃️ #AmWest
