I keep reminding people that this extended cold kills ticks! Though I am cheering that for my own advantage, I’m glad it will help moose as well.
I know too many people with alpha-gal, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, etc.

100%

I'm in Maine. Ticks were around 25 years ago, but we'd rarely see one, much less worry about tick-borne disease. Populations stayed low because winter temps regularly hit -20.

The river no longer freezes over, tick populations have exploded, & 2% of us have had anaplasmosis at least once.

Due to warming, parasites have begun to carry this infection. Anaplasmosis causes fever, headache, muscle spasms and intoxication, and is treated with antibiotics.

Even the tics hate russians. Is there any creature on earth that does not?

Here's a list of anaplasmosis symptoms. You don't have to have every single one of them to have the disease. It is important for elderly and immunocompromised people to catch it early because it can be serious, even life threatening.https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/25250-anaplasmosis
