A wild petunia: Ruellia strepens ("limestone petunia" -- although not related closely to petunias proper), with a flower sporting five flaring lobes, and laceolate green leaves, the herbaceous plant appearing on an eastern-facing slope of an bottomland forest, mixed in with leaf detritus, after wet weather, with a single, delicate pink-purple bloom. Because the bloom is located in the middle of the stem, and the plants are located in almost full shade, in a holler with mesic soil, growing in heavy leaf litter, blooming mid-May, I am going to ID this as Ruellia strepens (limestone ruellia) as opposed to Ruellia humilis (that blooms later perhaps, and called "plains petunia"). This plant pictured here is also called "smooth wild petunia", presumably because the leaves are smooth, not hairy (as opposed to Ruellia humilis, aka "hairy wild petunia"). Not a poditive ID.

In the photo: loose, terminal clusters of white, trumpet-shaped flowers (to 1.25" long) atop erect, rigid stems. Flowers blooming in mid to late spring. Tentatively identified as Foxglove-like Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis), or 'False Foxglove'. It could be White Wand Beardtongue (Penstemon tubaeflorus). More info, via Missouri Botanical Garden: The genus name Penstemon likely comes from the Latin paene meaning "almost" or "nearly" and the Greek stemon meaning "stamen". The name may also comes from the Greek penta meaning "five" and stemon meaning "stamen". Both refer to the fifth, sterile stamen (staminode) that characterizes members of this genus. The common names of this species refer to the appearance of its flowers and growth habit. Penstemons are sometimes commonly called beardtongues because the sterile stamen (staminode) can be hairy. The specific epithet digitalis refers to the genus Digitalis, the members of which are often called foxgloves, and the flowers of which this species is thought to superficially resemble. An oak sapling, with five red leaves, in early April. 'Embryonic' leaves are unfurling, or likely completely unfurled or unfolded with the base of each diminutive leaf visible, leaves displaying a red hue (a temporary aspect of this phenophase, the leaf-unfolding phase), leaves possibly with bristle-pointed lobes. The species is either Quercus Rubra (Northern Red Oak) or Quercus Alba (White Oak). Leaves appear to have seven lobes each. Prominent butte, primarily composed of Permian-aged Schnebly Hill Formation sandstone (roughly 270–290 million years old), originally coastal dunes that were part of the ancient Pedregosa Sea, now known for its flat-lying sedimentary red rock layers. The presence of hematite – iron-oxide (rust) – gives the sandstone a red color An uplifted plateau along the Mogollon Rim of the Colorado Plateau (uplifted 3 million years ago), the tan layer being Coconino Sandstone (lithified sand dunes from 265 million years ago).
