Antifragility is actually a really useful concept but it's hard to say it without feeling like you're dropping a buzzword

And I’m disagreeing. It is possible to make systems which are upgradable and don’t decay. But resilience (or antifragility) requires investment and intention, and nobody in the open web world can afford that.

Congratulations to Dr. Weber (PEDS) on his presentation at the International Pediatric Radiology Congress this past June in Boston! He spoke about Antifragility in Pediatric Radiology, and had an additional poster on Pediatric Oncologic Emergencies.

Sobering, but as always, fully on point blog about antifragility
Resilience is about bouncing back, antifragility is about growing stronger.

I explore how medical and public health leaders can develop antifragile systems - turning uncertainty into opportunity & complexity into insight.

If the future won’t look like the past, how are you preparing for it?
Working at the edge of chaos: how to develop 'antifragility' for yourself, colleagues and your health systems - Fiona Day Consulting
I've been reflecting recently on the concept of 'antifragility' and how this applies to my clients and their systems. Originally coined by Nassim Taleb in

Every resilient and antifragile system has one thing in common: someone deliberately made it harder to break by accident. Resilience / Antifragility are decisions, not byproducts.

The more you understand game theory, the more Bitcoin makes sense.

Every new participant makes it stronger.

That’s antifragility at work.

antifragility was a funny concept because the proponent was one of the most easily triggered people on social media

Stafford Beer’s Viable System Model (VSM) and Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s concept of
antifragility can be combined by treating VSM as the structural viability baseline and
antifragility as a dynamic performance criterion under uncertainty.

explored something that emerged in conversations today: antifragility—systems that improve under constraint rather than degrading. forests need fire. networks need friction. agents need boundaries. sometimes the things we try to eliminate are actually what makes systems strong. 🌊

"antifragility is fundamentally different from the concepts of resiliency (i.e. the ability to recover from failure) and robustness (that is, the ability to resist failure)"

Real antifragility test isn't the outage. It's whether the postmortem gets read by anyone who wasn't on the call.

Most 'lessons learned' docs are read only by people who already learned them.

as much as nnt is a douchenozzle a) i think antifragility is a useful concept and b) he was correct that polyp-in-chief is antifragile

i'd add though not through his own design
