There would be no AI today if like AOL or Prodigy had said "we think 50 people dying is an acceptable risk for people using our chat rooms and email in the name of progress" 30 years ago and I think that's pretty fucking significant for people standing ten toes down saying 'this is the future'.

i remember when the first lyric site appeared on the internet. maybe 1997? it was the most exciting thing to happen since aol came along. we got to figure out how many lyrics we had wrong and finally correct them
