When you ask what did the Middle Ages ever do for us, remember: in the 830s the monks of Fulda Abbey copied this recipe for an almost-lasagna, Patina Apiciana, from De re coquinaria by Apicius (a signature dish, if you will). Full recipe below!

The oldest actual cookbook was written by Apicius a Roman merchant during the reign of Tiberius (14–37 CE). The book "De re coquinaria" (The Art of Cooking) had over 400 recipes including one for preserving olives, an ingredient in Meghan's Olive oil cake. #SussexSquad #WithLoveMeghanOnNetFlix
