Fence Posts, Lower Garden District, New Orleans.

Two old metal fence posts side by side at a property line. Small portion of wooden houses seen in background. At left is a cylindrical vertical fence post painted dark brown, the top of which narrows then widens again in a vaguely plant-like pattern. The visible bit of fence attached is a simple design of horizontal bars and vertical stakes in matching brown. At right vertical rectangular fence post, the upper portion of which has a section with a square design topped with a fleur-de-lis. Two layers of paint, dark red and green, are seen in uneven pattern - the post was no doubt painted solid colors at different times but parts of layers have worn away. The visible bit of attached metal fence has series of decorative curls between and over the bars and stakes.

One of a pair of carved walnut door panels, French, circa 1870. Each centred with a game bird in high relief within an oval cartouche, oak leaf sprays at the corners.

New to the gallery as part of the European shipment. Not yet online.

Vibrant red fruit hanging from branches with large green leaves, growing through a white openwork wall, with an orange sunset sky and evening mist in the background. Watercolor style.
