As you look south from the dam, there’s a single turbine (of the sort all over the rest of Clare, including the ones by Doonbeg that drive Trump nuts). A lot more energy comes from wind now than Ardnacrusha.

Just did the tour of Ardnacrusha hydro power plant. There is an entire room posting the ad campaigns they had to do to convince people to actually GET electricity.

Here's an photo from the ESB Archives of the actual work that happened at Ardnacrusha, which was dangerous work done by real humans and done under shit pay and conditions cause some parasite always needs to ensure things be done as cheaply as possible at the expense of everyone else involved.

The Shannon Scheme cost 30 workers their lives and the Irish Times have deemed it suitable to not even bother using an actual photograph of Ardnacrusha or the people who built it and instead use some sepia tinted slop shite with random faceless characters in it.

We went down through this one at Ardnacrusha on the Shannon. Biggest dam in the world for 5 years, until the Hoover Dam spoilsports came along! Squeaky bum time. Dinghies are 5-7 metres long. We had to get down and away out of the race before they needed to turn the turbines on again. No pressure!
