At the shop I wait to open the lid of the box because it’s drizzling. The shopkeeper arrives and I get the papers out and carry them in. The aubade of the rising shutters. I collect my £1 lottery winnings; I drop the coin and it rolls a short distance.

I think the truth is in the middle. Larkin hated readings, he generally refused them (though he loved Pinter doing Aubade on radio) because he thought it forced something on the listener. The shape of the page was important to him, the running order, etc. But he did record some of his -
"Unless the poem has been written for performance"- what the hell? If it hasn't been written for performance, it isn't a poem.

I can’t recall if the field was real though I can still see it and us standing in it, facing the stand of trees, too young to understand the future…

Fall is in the air, honey. 🍯🍂 Aubade’s Sheer Emotion bra brings the warmth in a beautiful honey hue. Sheer tulle, soft cups and delicate embroidery blend comfort with a little seduction.

Come see your ladies and find your fall glow! ✨

I work all day, and get half-drunk at night.
Waking at four to soundless dark, I stare.
In time the curtain-edges will grow light.

Stephen Fry performs "Aubade" by Philip Larkin in this week's new poem film.

A stunning Aubade poem by Luke Hathaway.
The last line...

I slept, and while I slept I dreamed
a breaking wave, a flowering tree,
and all of one accord I seemed.
I woke, and you divided me.

Steve Bray waking up on the morning Britain finally Breturns to the EU to realise the gaping maw in his soul has not been filled by a triumphant rejoining with our European partners…no. In fact it’s bigger than ever. And it’s making a noise. A ringing sound only worse. So much worse than that.
