I’ve seen happier captive audiences in hostage videos.
LMAO oh my god

It’s like they know print subscribers are all liberals and provide different tones for different audiences. That’s bad

The movie ratings system started on this date in 1968.

G — General audiences
M — Mature audiences (later GP, then PG)
R — Restricted
X — Adults only

PG-13 was added in 1984. X became NC-17 in 1990. #FilmSky

Machines don't get nuance and can't make idiomatic adjustments for local audiences, and even if they could why would I pay a billionaire who stole translators' work for training data, when I could pay the translator directly
It goes without saying that I also love you insist on human translators in your contracts. People over machines, always.

Also, the "critics vs. audiences" mentality is horseshit.

Critics ARE audiences.

Specifically, we're the audience members who love movies so much we watch every film can find, speak articulately about them, and share our passion with people who otherwise wouldn't even hear about most films.
Additionally: if you're a storyteller of any form and you want your work to stand the test of time: embrace critics. Make work that challenges or isn't good. Let us say what we'll say. Being documented or written about means you matter and are worth the time of analysis.
Everyone likes critics when they're positive, everyone hates critics when they're negative, but nobody acknowedges that the praise means nothing unless critics are free, and willing, to criticize.

No more cable news. That was a mistake. Replace CNN with Magnum PI and Rockford reruns and Fox News can be the Dynasty/Dallas/Falcon Crest channel. Their audiences won't know the difference
laura ingraham starts her first appearance of the night by "warning" democrats that they shouldnt take their mandate as a full fledged endorsement of leftism.

folks, if this is where she's starting, shit is gonna get BAD.

Cyberpunk character: I've hacked the grocery store's freezers. If they don't pay up, all their frozen food will expire.

Audiences, 2016: Wow that's ridiculous. Why would the freezers be connected to the internet at all?

"you don't make cults. audiences make cults."

see this guy gets it

watching *Strange Journey*, the Rocky Horror documentary, on the Fandango app with ads bc I am cheap

the ad they keep showing on breaks is very specifically for LL Bean duck boots

not even LL Bean in general!

only the duck boots

and I truly cannot think of a worse mismatch of ad and audience 😂

Whatever heat Stevens takes today, Nancy Pelosi should share in it. In the last days of a major election, she picked the Israel govt over party. It’s naive to think she didn’t plan to endorse El-Sayed right after attacking him. She was communicating with two audiences. Trump does it all the time.

It uses a sort of time-dislocated late-20th century VHS aesthetic, but since that era was a high water mark for liberal politics in the west, replacing fashy historical fanfiction with actual historical things makes the meme effective across two audiences: libs and people who think the vibe is cool.

"they have the biggest audiences"- the biggest audiences don't mean shit if you're still not reaching the goals that you want for yourself or your work
How others still publish on webtoon baffles me. How others still publish on globalcomix still baffles me. There are so many really good companies out there that won't screw you over. Let's bring more traction to them!

How dare people be expressive and vulnerable. I want corporate cartoons made for general audiences dripping in so much 90s/00s self satisfied irony that I can feel superior in not having a strong opinion

There is exactly one news story right now. Every single news organization in America should feel it is their obligation to make sure that their audiences, their communities, understand how important Tuesday is. Everything else is a piffle.
Every news organization in the U.S. should have as their top story from now through Tuesday some (probably more gently worded) variation of “Huge Stakes as Voters Choose Whether to Enable Trump or Rein Him In: Have They Had Enough of Autocracy, Corruption, and Chaos or Do They Want More?”
