Tanya Melnik and I led this with the Upper Midwest Aurora Chasers and Aurorasaurus. We polled the group on which apps people actually use, then reviewed the free versions of the 11 apps that came back. Most have hundreds of thousands of downloads.

We had the best time with our West Saint Paul neighbors watching @openeyetheatre perform Tucker's Robot live at the shop! 🤖 We were even lucky enough to get a special visit from the amazing Rory the Aurorasaurus, mascot extraordinaire of our friends @mnaurorafc.bsky.social . What a fun day!

Please let us know what type of alert system you used. If it was aurorasaurus, I hope you also reported that you couldn’t see it. Those reports matter too 😊

@sundogplanets What if you able to create some kind of citizen science app for reporting junk with a photo and geolocation, like https://www.aurorasaurus.org/
Maybe it’s SpaceJunkasaurus? Offer prizes or status for confirmed finds?

Thanks Mike. Using QDslrdashboard makes it a lot easier than doing it by hand. Looks like aurora might happen tonight. Seeing reports on aurorasaurus. One positive about the heat- clear skies.

Someone posted a site called Aurorasaurus, which you can use to see when other people in your area report that they can see it. I went out last night at 8 and again at 9 pm without any luck and nobody else was reporting success either.
