Let them shut down. Better short term suffering than long term authoritanism.

I think that gender authoritanism is why they’re *indifferent* to the burden on parents working outside the home, but the idea that it’s the true motive implies they secretly understand the medical rationale is nonsense. I think at this point it’s fair to presume they’re genuinely stupid.
The obvious goal of "spacing them out" is twofold:

1) Killing and hurting children, especially those from lower-income families who struggle to make doctor's appointments.

2) Punishing women with jobs by making it even harder to balance work with taking care of kids.

Doctors push back on Trump executive order to change childhood vaccine schedule
Trump order makes recommendations about the childhood vaccine schedule and recommens that the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine be split into three separate shots.

Cuomo will not attack Trump or Tish James by name because he will be Trump's agent in NYC.

As Mamdani says, this is mealy-mouthed platitude by Cuomo, not a challenge to rising authoritanism.

The Vargas Dictatorship here in Brazil had things like this. The military dictatorship had something like this, too. Together, it was 36 years of authoritanism.

I hope you guys don't suffer what we had to suffer.

Authoritanism 101:

"Accuse the other of which you are guilty"

Being an orange turd is a bonus.

As much as I would hope the Dem leadership would have made this shutdown more about all the lawlessness/authoritanism, etc...not just abt healthcare issue which fixing saves the GOP from themselves...I do have to admit, as pain for ppl goes, losing ACA subsidies/Medicaid is pretty horrific. 😒

Democrats should not "do whatever the f*ck they want." Standing up for democracy, and building/bolstering an effective coalition to oppose authoritanism, requires discipline and strategy.
That said, taking risks and being not just as aggressive, but more aggressive, than Trumpers is essential.
Trump taking a 10% stake in Intel for the government is yet another reminder that Dems, when in power, should stop being afraid of their own shadows and do whatever the f*ck they want and not worry about political norms or rules or conventions or media name calling.
Trump: "I said, 'You know what? I think the United States should be given 10% of Intel.'"

Seems like the main thing that will save us from DJT's authoritanism is the fact that he and his minions are so astonishingly incompetent.

I finished it a few weeks ago. The book looks like an excuse to write a long, interesting, easy to understand essay about authoritanism around the middle of the book. The story is nice but Orwell just wants to say "authoritanism bad".

The book isn't very long so it's easy to digest.

Yep. Privileged kids upset at their Republican parents. Their anti-authoritanism is against their parents that’s why so much of what they do and their politics seems so juvenile—throwing tantrums—because they really are like young kids acting out.

I guess my issue with the concept of "competitive authoritanism" is that it makes it sound like a targeted state of government rather than a transitional one. This is why I've been calling this concept "prodromal fascism" for a few years.

We are literally saying state-controlled media on the order of Russia, Iran or Venezuela shaping up in the US. This is authoritanism in its purest form and anyone acting as if it is business as usual is, at this point, complicit

Most cyberpunk thing of the day, which has a great competition with AI and authoritanism going rampant.
HOLY SHIT! This might be the coolest thing ever.

Many of my fellow GenZs who are all over the baggy jeans fruitger aero aesthetics are also the same ones sending death threats like greetings and saying everyone who ships the wrong two characters should "unalive" (note also the self-censorship to applacate the rising authoritanism)
Of course the point of pushing back against nostalgia--as we already discussed at length almost a year ago--is that your favorite cartoon didn't exist in a magic bubble untouched by nasty geopolitics, and it's incoherent and nonsensical to pretend it did.

Some advice from an old Jew: you can't defeat authoritanism - it has existed since humans have.

In the short term, all you can do is survive it.

Every WW2 movie that depicted the horrors of fascism and the great sacrafice so many made around the world to stop it.

Also, Star Wars, Star Trek and every other show that depicts the horrors of authoritanism.

13. Sanjuro is a nudist samurai, the disgraced fourth son of an important local lord who wanders the country with his ass and balls out as a form of mockery against local authoritanism.
or so he says.
he might just be a weird old man.

The what now?
I'm not sure if we are witnessing or already have witnessed the complete breakdown of the institutions of the USA.
Sad to see a beacon of liberty turn to authoritanism in record time.
Every day is Christmas for Putin now.

Holy shit ... under questioning by DOJ, officer in charge of obeying Posse Comitatus Act (PCA) openly admits (to obvious consternation of judge) that he does not feel he needs to adhere to that law, and that President Donald Trump told him that.

Christ on a cracker.

Politicians who care about the people they represent there is a way to stop the madness gripping this nation. Push back. Stand up. Call out the lies. Stand up to the lies and the liars. Do not accept the abnormal. Do not normalize the blatant racism and desire to move this nation to authoritanism.
