What keeps pissing me off with the "AI" for technical jobs pitches is the promises that just boil down to flat out lies.
Quilter out here claiming to have "designed a computer". Their product is an autorouter, it did shit all in terms of design.
They took the NXP ref. design and let it re-route it 🤡

My PCB autorouter just produced an acceptable result! took 53minutes non optimised and 4GB memory.

Finished routing the pcb for the MOS6566 to MOS8562 adapter.
I did it with a mixed approach, autorouter with manual cleanup.
Turned out quite OK, the 3D rendering isn't accurate though, because of overlapping footprints.

WOW, first completely clear run with my pcb autorouter! A few things to tidy up thats all. Oh and it uses 100x more memory than it should lol

If you want this but don't want to do this, try ToPoR autorouter!
Honestly I love this type of routing. Feels more artisanal than "only 90 and 45 degree traces"

As a followup continuation, here's a simpler D1 + Itty example (no CORS), for an API in under 1kB.
Itty allows all handlers to see router/route-level generics, and AutoRouter will transform any unformatted responses to JSON automatically, provide a 404, etc.

Sometimes when I'm lazy, I set power and ground. Then let the autorouter have a go, then clean up the mess that it made. It surprises me every time how "dumb" the autorouter is. That would for once be a good AI use case.

i haven't tried codex but if that's true, it's wild, bc in the chatbot interfaces it's the opposite: ChatGPT has an autorouter and the capability of switching model mid-stream, Claude forces you to pick a model at the start of a chat and stick with it.
