I think people confuse academics in the classics and military history spaces with:
- barely autodidactic cos-players,
- reenactors, and
- worse on a spectrum to outright warmongers and fascists

I have far too many friends who are autodidactic and I have seen far too many groups of humans use language as a method of excluding other humans for me to ever support making fun of someone who mispronounces something they’ve never heard said out loud.

If you can teach yourself to cross stitch, sublimate, smoke a brisket, mod a PC, install a toilet, and all other types of DIY/hobbyist shit using YouTube, Master Class, and your local library, you can use that same autodidactic energy to learn some Black history. 🤷🏾♂️

I'm endlessly disappointed in orgs & people repeatedly dismissing/excluding Marvina Haynes in the Minneapolis Ward 4 race.
She has a proven record of autodidactic achievements within complex systems, & has brilliant successes despite a vacuum of resources. With resources & collaboration, she'd soar.
