For AI specifically, if you build in #Azure then #AIFoundry has built in security controls & filters. This means it blocks common threats & jailbreak attempts by default, but what about trolling? Harder to detect but you can slide a switch in Foundry/IaC to block it too!

... The answer is to use a defence-in-depth approach. Security is like an onion - it has layers! A lot of these features may be seen as outside the remit of a dev but with an average of 1 sec to 100 devs we all need to help each other to stay secure

Another day, another #MSBuild bluesky thread to enjoy!
Starting today with #cybersecurity & looking at how to apply a defence-in-depth approach to AI apps

1st off, @pamelafox.bsky.social & @sarahyo.com ran the most fun session yet, & they even brough #TimTams for the audience!

You can now watch the talk recording for "Deploying an end-to-end secure AI application" with me + @sarahyo.com:

This one is worth a whole post just on its own:

"Microsoft is the largest cloud contributor to open source @cncf.io projects in the last year"

That's a lot of bugfixes, updates & enhancements for the benefit of the whole community 💖

The day2 keynote ends with Scott Guthrie taking us inside the newest AI datacentres. Great to see a focus on #sustainability in Scott's talk - 100% renewable energy, reducing embodied carbon and zero-waste water cooling for those hot AI GPUs!

We shared impressive stats & trends on the future of work. Over 300 million daily users of Teams & predicting 1.3 billion(!) AI Agents by 2028. #CopilotStudio does a lot of the AI heavy-lifting, connecting with other tools via MCP & grouping Agents to work together

For data governance & security, #Purview works across databases, documents and the M365 apps to respect confidential or sensitive data. It will either apply the most-sensitive label to any content Copilot comes back with or tell you when it's against policies

From my non-dev viewpoint it was good to understand more on the #AIFoundry security & monitoring services available in the ecosystem. Using red-team agents to look for risks, adding guardrails & controls (like Prompt Shields), & investigating incidents

Another cool demo putting agents into practice. This time they built an app using multiple agents to manage all the tasks involved with putting on events. They used the AI Foundry extension in @vscode.dev to be able to work on code and the Agents threads side by side

Our "Agent Factory" is made up of Models + Knowledge + Agents. Cool model features include the leaderboard, same-time access for OpenAI models in Foundry, APIM, model router and distillation (which optimises complex models into more efficient ones)

AI Powered Tools demo'd how the MCP-enabled GitHub Copilot connects across apps (like making GitHub understand Figma). We also saw the new SRE Agent in action, monitoring deployments & rolling back after issues. Even upgrading Java, .NET & mainframe code!
