#AzureSDK
I'm excited to announce the first beta of our official #AzureSDK for #rustlang crates! This initial release includes Key Vault Secrets and Keys, Event Hubs including AMQP support, our core crates, and Identity. Cosmos is following soon. We have more planned including some usability improvements.

Felt a little proud today at #RustConf25 when, during @markrussinovich.bsky.social’s keynote - full of lots of cool projects - the crowd applauded at the mention of the #AzureSDK for #rustlang!

@ronnietsunami.bsky.social and I got to demo the #AzureSDK for #rustlang yesterday at Build. My first time at Build, no less.

When official work began on #AzureSDK for #rustlang, I prototyped many construction and call patterns including our existing unofficial builder patterns. While I don't want to relitigate options, today I was suddenly saddened when I realized we missed an opportunity to ship a `BlobTheBuilder` type.

I contributed a late change to make #rustlang errors easier to use like how we define them in the #AzureSDK and found in many other popular crates.

We all make mistakes. I like to share a story with mentees when I, as a senior dev relatively new on the #AzureSDK for #dotnet team, deleted all our shared test secrets.

I was sure I was deleting the right #KeyVault ...but deleted the wrong one. The prompt was vague and soft delete was not enabled.
Breaking out of @rahaeli.bsky.social's most excellent thread so I don't hijack it (read their thread, it's insightful).

I've told this story a bunch before but what the heck, it's fun.

It was 1992, I was working on a test utility for Windows NT 3.1.
I resemble that remark SO MUCH.

I once took down every single machine in the world running Windows NT.

And then 10 minutes later (just long enough for the machines to reboot and people to get back to work), I took them down a second time because I didn't realize what I'd done the first time.

New versions of azure_core and its dependencies have been released. We’ll be releasing updated #AzureSDK for #rustlang crates built on it next week.

This also includes our new cloud configuration API that will help azure_identity and eventually other Azure SDK crates that need it (uncommon).
Small change the size of a large change coming to #AzureSDK for #rustlang: while all client methods continue to be async, deserializing models is now sync. In most cases we already buffered the entire response anyway, but the goal was making sure we do so entirely in the pipeline (policy chain).

New #AzureSDK for #rustlang!

This is our "breakiest" change yet. Since we're in the home stretch and after a cross-language review, we've made a few API changes like into_body() -> into_model() but we still define `into_body(self) -> ResponseBody`, congruent with `AsyncResponse`.

Though, whether anything takes advantage of it is another matter. Looking at #rustlang serde, it'll buffer remaining content regardless: github.com/serde-rs/ser.... Our generated deserializer code for #AzureSDK for .NET is similar.

I'll open a tracking issue for consideration for our Rust SDK.
