My company is 100% employee owned and a top 10% B Corp. We always sleep soundly.

i really like the small bits of worldbuilding and how everything sucks and your main mission providers are Evil Corp A or Evil Corp B

King Arthur is an employee-owned B Corp, FWIW (and the product is good besides).

:dons librarian hat:

Digital preservation is more expensive than preserving paper; it takes more staff, active attention, and consistent computing resources. Libraries have discussed “digital dark age” since the 1990s.

Corp archives often 1st to go b/c suits haven’t figured out how to profit.
One of the interesting things about the Internet is that we’re actually living through a dark age. Future historians are unlikely to have records of this period.

Paper and ink last. Digital storage, less so.

Support your bookshop when you gift audiobooks from Libro.fm.*

*An employee-owned, Certified B Corp…and not a giant corporation

Hello 👋 from the audiobook company that shares profits with 4,000+ independent bookshops across the globe, is an employee-owned Certified B Corp, and really, truly cares about booksellers and readers everywhere 💓

We're just an employee-owned audiobook company, standing in front of readers, asking them to make the switch so they can support their indie bookstore with every audiobook purchase 💓

(We're also a Certified B Corp, offer DRM-free audiobooks, & have 600,000+ to choose from.)

Here's a good company that is committed to diversity. Certified B Corp + Employee-Owned. They also have great products.
King Arthur Baking Company, founded in 1790 and based in Vermont, is an employee-owned and certified B Corp, meaning it considers its impact on workers, customers, community, and the environment. King Arthur Baking's mission is to inspire and share the joy of baking.

This is why you shouldn't trust a for-profit corporation. Even a B Corp. Especially a B Corp.
If you create a place you champion as a "safe-space" on the internet for women, trans people, minorities, nerds, etc., then invite nazis into it, you're basically just serving us up on a fucking platter.
Feeding the gazelles directly to the fuckin lions.
I am so fuckin disappointed.

A certified B Corp is a company that meets high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corps prioritize using business as a force for good, committing to the benefit of all stakeholders, not just shareholders. Support ethical business. Find a B Corp. 👇

I'd need ironclad commitment that they won't use their TOS to use or sell "user content" to train generative AI. And something along the lines of a B Corp-style mission/structure re: profit.

Us:
💜 every purchase supports indie bookstores
💰 pays local taxes
🎉 raised more than $39 million for bookstores
🌎 certified B-Corp

Them:
❌ does not pay their fair share of taxes
❌ does not care about putting indie bookstores out of business
❌ harmful to the environment

Some big news from us today 🥰 We are officially a Certified B Corp! 🎉

In 2014, Libro.fm was founded to empower readers to support their indie with audiobooks. As a Social Purpose Corporation and 100% employee-owned company, we’ve always made decisions that benefit this mission. (1/3)

In my opinion (which is pretty uneducated on the topic): a B-corp social media platform with an explicitly pro-democracy mission could have an expressly anti-fascist moderation policy.
These are very good questions. What would designing a social media platform to minimize its utility for the promoters of genocidal hate speech look like?
That's all fine and dandy. But still wondering what the policy will be to prevent the weaponization of platforms for genocidal hate speech. Customizing my account to label or hide posts is useless if the message can still be disseminated widely to others. A robust, deplatforming mechanism is a must.

I'm not buying it!

If Trump is gonna get another round of billionaire/corp tax cuts, he needs to (a) cut Medicaid bigly and/or (b) dramatically increase the federal deficit/debt

His 1.0 tax cuts for the rich increased the deficit $2 Trillion

Don't Fuck With Medicaid

$80M would stand up one hell of a b corp coast to coast newsroom and it would be less than half of what he spend this time
