The #barkranger got into some burrs, so we had no choice but to give him his summer cut.

Blueberry mornings are the best kind of mornings! 🫐
PS did you know that blueberries are native here to the eastern US? The wild ones are struggling because of habitat loss and heavy deer browse and are one of the many species mom and I work to protect! #barkranger

I might be a serious #barkranger but I always take the time to play too! Life is all about balance!

Busy day in the field with Mom M today! We collected bluebell and elm seeds, looked for future seed sources of other plants, heard a turkey, and rescued a box turtle from the road! #barkranger

My Fringe Tree (Chionanthus virginicus) is blooming and it is so pretty! It’s also called Old Man’s Beard because of the drooling white flowers 🤭 it’s a native tree in the olive family and birds like to eat the fruit! #barkranger

We took a picnic style snack break part way through and the volunteers and Mom M’s interns played ball with me 🎾 a pretty good day! #barkranger

It’s been a while since Mom M has taken me to work in the field but I’m back! This morning we collected acorns! They will be sown this fall and grow into trees that will be planted back into natural areas for restoration! #barkranger

Showing my support for NPS at a #protectourparks rally! I even met a real Park Ranger (hero!) who gave me pets and thanked us all for our support. It’s important to show up for the causes important to us. #saveourparks #resistancerangers #barkranger

Ranger Mokihana has got B.A.R.K. Ranger in Training Chewie learning how to be a gentleman at Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site. If you visit this important NPS site on Hawaiʻi Island, be sure to let him know he is a very handsome boy & no doubt excellent B.A.R.K. Ranger student. 🐶

Besides being the most fun, snow is important for our ecosystem! Snow cover provides insulation keeping plant roots and burrowing critters in the soil warm, and when it melts it replenishes our natural water supply! Go snow!! #barkranger

No big deal, just a dog in a @bunchbike.com enjoying the trail. Do you have a BARK Ranger who loves the Mount Vernon Trail? Make sure to pick up a MVT BARK Ranger tag at mountverontrail.org/barkranger

I’m back on the job! Mom M and I did some trail maintenance this morning clearing & cutting branches that fell into the park paths from storms earlier this week. Happy it cooled off a bit so I can help mom with her field work again! #barkranger

Mom M did fieldwork without me today! But she got some cool pictures so I guess it’s okay. There’s a bumble bee on a Carolina Rose, a Box Turtle gorging on native blackberries, a vine related to milkweeds, and mating zebra swallowtail butterflies! #barkranger

What a morning! Mom M’s interns came to my park and removed invasive vines off of native trees. We cleared an area that was planted about 3 years ago & the baby trees were starting to get smothered. But we saved them! Afterwards as a treat we picked native blackberries around the park #barkranger
