Oft ist Licht nicht erwünscht, weshalb nahezu alles an Halbleiter in lichtundurchlässiges Material verpackt wird.

I've found that while you can use BC547/8/9's in the TR1/TR2 positions, nothing gives the same quality of output as the original ZTX313's. This is a useful mod for Samsung Issue 4S machines where they've used transistors with inferior characteristics in those positions.

Mitn bisschen Glück müsste doch da fast jeder NPN-Darlington funzen, 30v 0.5a sind doch das billigste wo gibt. Vlt. tuns sogar 2 BC547 oder dergleichen. Musste halt etwas an den Widerständen rumschrauben.

It could have been that TinkerCAD only gives you generic PNP and NPN transistors, but the BC547 and BC557 transistors called out in the original circuit seem to be ubiquitous.

I ordered 25 of each today from @digikey.bsky.social . Let'see where that goes.

My burning hatred for BJTs is in full display here 🤬 It's not so much the BC547 is a bad transistor or anything, but BJTs feel like you have to solve a two variables simultaneous equation with only one equation in the set and you gotta guess for what's missing...

2xAA is about 3.3v when the batteries are fresh and perhaps 2.5v or less once they start running out. I'd still expect a high-beta small-signal NPN (eg. bc547) to be able to get a typical LED to light up, but perhaps the chip is just really close to the voltages where it stops working at all.

Bin durch halb Europa gereifelt um eine prähistorische Biviator Steuerung gängig zu machen, 3 nicht Biviator bezogene Fehler habe repariert, nun fehlt mir zum vollen Glück noch so ein BC547.
Selbstnatürlich hätte, wette, Fahradkette ich so einen Kerl in der Bastelkiste

I was pointed in the direction of TinkerCAD on the App Store. Amongst its many talents is a circuit emulator.

I've created the circuit, utilizing a virtual power supply to supply 12VDC, and their generic NPN transistor for the BC547, and it just doesn't work at any voltage.

I have researched this farther. It seems to be a common circuit, the BC547 transistor is being used in a non-typical manner, and I've seen references that this circuit just won't work at lower voltages.

I don't know my transistors well enough to use a different one, but I have ordered some Zeners.
