Another day, another campus attacked by saffron nazis in my state. This is life under the new BJP government, even as the country finally begins to protest the the corrupt Election Commission & its SIR, which led to the mass voter disenfranchisement preceding the elections & their victory here.
Stones were thrown at students from outside the gate even while police were present, a student told Scroll. Several persons were injured, including one who was hit on the head and another who was allegedly attacked with a knife, he added.

Something that’s also been on my mind- the big social media companies long ago conceded to demands by the Modi-led BJP government in India, weakening criticisms of the government, and providing tools for propaganda and opposition intimidation. These same tools will now serve the Trump admin.
I don't think people know how Facebook was the organizational tool of genocides and pogroms in countries where the company offered their platform in the local language but didn't hire enough safety staff fluent in the that language to monitor it being used to coordinate mass violence

Ignoring the former USSR for a moment ("everything was forever, until it was no more") to focus on real democracies: the end of 1980s bubble Japan led to nostalgia, sclerosis, and decay. The end of Nehruvian idealism in 1980s India is responsible for the rise of the BJP.
I do not know what happens if real cynical detachment from the Dream becomes widespread, but I very much do worry that the answer is less “a birth of a new egalitarian mindset” and more “American Lukashenkoism”, heaping ourselves in the aesthetics of an ideology nobody even pretends to believe in
