wine a day increases the long term risk of developing breast cancer by "about 10%."

The WaPo also notes that "In 2019, about 16% of breast cancer cases could be traced back to alcohol - more than the [~] 10 percent tied to a genetic mutation such as BRCA 1 and BRACA 2."

Cancer vaccines are finally here. How do we get them to patients?
“If we want cancer vaccines to reach patients faster than BRCA testing did, there are several challenges to address now,” write Karen E. Knudsen and Othman Laraki.

It's not an easy read, particularly as a parent, but I found it to be riveting.

In addition to the incredible persistence of Las Abuelas del Plaza de Mayo, I learned the story of Mary-Claire King, pioneering geneticist (she discovered BRCA) who aided the Abuelas in IDing their nietos suquestrados.

If you have to take estrogen, just make sure you let your medical team know of the family history. Early detection really makes the cancer battle easy, its still super anxiety inducing and frustrating. The outlook and prognosis are far better.
Do you have the brca gene?

He's doing great, sore but healing well, I unfortunately passed him down a bad gene. 😅 If you could repost, I'd be grateful, but don't feel obligated if GFYs aren't your jam.

Email or DM? I could've sworn I had your email but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes. I had BRCA gene testing, and I didn't have either BRCA1 or BRCA2.
Which I am grateful for. Thank you for thinking of that. And for the positive thoughts. 🙏

My father died of breast cancer. One of the first questions my hematologist asked was have you had genetic testing. I answered yes, no BRCA gene.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends this week, but family history matters all year. Around 5 to 10% of breast cancers are linked to an inherited gene change like BRCA1 or BRCA2. If breast or ovarian cancer runs in your family, a genetic counsellor can help. rosalindgenetics.com #BRCA

Tits are clear but bc of my family history and my high boob density I am considered high risk so they recommending a BRCA test. DENSE TITTIES YALL.
The titty bus. FYI I would do this a thousand times before a pap smear everyone should get a mammogram, bus is optional.
