In 1996, Murdoch already owned Star TV in HK, and would launch Fox News in the US, towards the end of the year. He also partnered with Softbank to launch JSkyB, the Japanese counterpart to his BSkyB satellite TV business in Britain.

Fox Kids meanwhile were of course still running their lineup, with no qualms spared of airing their action and anime shows at the time (labelling of the URL to the upload below was an error)

Fox did not respond to NPR's request for comment.

Attorneys are also particularly interested in how Nasser supported the Murdochs' agenda during the decade he spent on the board of British Sky Broadcasting, a British media company better known as BSkyB.

And only yesterday I was reading that no one has a sense of humour on BSkyB 😆
A fun, affordable hobby is:

1. Turning up in random well-to-do Cotswold villages wearing a hi-vis vest with a picture of a wind turbine on it, and a hard hat.

2. Taking measurements of the village green and any other open space, and enthusiastically writing notes on a clipboard.

It's the only way they go. Another club legend about to be sold down the river on their watch, to stop them facing scrutiny. The British media helped the Glazers in though, when BSkYB were going to buy us, there was uproar, the Glazers, not a peep. nothing. How they took over isn't even allowed now

Broadcasting Expansion: The Thatcher government also later allowed Murdoch's satellite venture to merge and form BSkyB without major regulatory referral, cementing his dominant influence in British print and television media.

Bskyb is my safe place.

I've started having a problem when replying. I can't see what I'm typing as it disappears off the bottom of the screen. Like this.

Murdoch owns multiple tabloids in the UK, including the largest circulation trash paper, and The Times, which is a trash paper with a formerly good name. He also dominated satellite TV via Sky / BSkyB for a time. Has the ear of Prime Ministers, and we didnt even make him become a citizen to do it.

IIRC there were other potential acquirers, such as AOL Time Warner and even USA Network, which was about to be acquired by Vivendi Universal.

Vivendi head Jean-Marie Messier owned a chunk of Murdoch’s BSkyB, though by 2001 he was looking to sell it off.

Maybe in this context, the "why"will start to make sense. I'm sure it's still shyt.
SkyNews Australia, initially a joint venture - BSkyB, Seven Network, and Nine Entertainment, later acquired by News Corp Australia in 2016, with direct ties to Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, which also owns Fox News

Not to mention Nine's campaigns (and Nine's then chief Sam Chisholm once BSB and Sky merged to become BSKYB):

I'm old enough to remember inflatable sumo wrestlers on Monday night premiership BSkyB games.

To celebrate last night's defeat of the pagan hordes*, I'll have some Lindisfarne mead.

*American BSkyB: it's a joke, calm down, we Brits are aware of our history especially myself with, you know, Irish parents.
