“Privatisation was a success … I don’t think that Andy Burnham running the water companies is the answer to those problems,” says Badenoch, as South East Water adopts emergency measures.

The predictions of Project Fear.

So Burnham needs to lay out UK's options for each scenario (for me anyway).

Suspect they’ll run a, don’t risk the progress, campaign, and maybe they get away with the tax raises. The Tory boomers in my life haven’t forgiven them yet, and quiet like Burnham, so there is a bit of hope there

Andy Burnham also finding out rather abrupty that Their Benevolent Magnificences were not throwing all that dosh around Manchester out of the goodness of their hearts.

Wasn’t Andy Burnham stating he’s reduced the bus fare to £2 a single?

⚠ Travel Update - 03/10 ⚠
Due to a safety inspection of the track at Bridgwater the line towards Weston-super-Mare is blocked.

Train services between Taunton and Weston-Super-Mare may be cancelled, delayed or diverted. Bridgwater and Highbridge & Burnham will not be served.

We all know that but Burnham was talking about Westminster, obviously.
October 3, 2026 at 5:13 PM
Absolutely. Why is Andy Burnham not undoing the damage he says was done by privatisation?
October 3, 2026 at 5:12 PM
Thanks for the suggestion but I'd rather go with Zack Polanski who promises real change not half baked promises about maybe, if he gets round to it, after the next election we may have a referendum on rejoining EU, tinkering with triple lock etc. It's all hot air and Burnham is same old, same old.
October 3, 2026 at 5:09 PM
It really is, both @columnist.bsky.social and I were wondering where this came from, who is advising Burnham etc? Total bolt from the blue
October 3, 2026 at 5:08 PM
Terrific piece this:
Does the EU want Britain back?
Burnham has reopened the Brexit debate. That doesn’t mean the UK will be welcomed back on its own terms

Can you have a word with Andy Burnham, please?

Because, over here, we’ve stripped the NHS down to the level of a pill dispenser machine.

So now, when I go for physiotherapy, they give me a PDF file.

I wish that were a joke.

In other news: Brexit going swimmingly.

A third runway would fly in the face of reason. If we are to prioritise human life over short-term ‘growth’, we need to use planes less, not more, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social gets it.

My late comrade Mayer Hillman questioned me once about one of the numerous Heathrow consultations/enquiries:
"What did the Bangladeshi children say?".

Think about it.

🇬🇧🇮🇷 Britain now believes Iran played a part in that strange RAF Fairford incident. PM Andy Burnham says there are strong indications Iran was involved, but he won't say why, only that more will come out in due course. 5 British men were arrested near the U.S.-used base on

Burnham built his case on working-class aspiration and a post-war Britain that backed it. Caribbean migrants were part of that post-war Britain. The question he did not answer directly is whether the renewal he promises will reach them in their old age..

All Together Now: What Burnham’s Britain Offers the Caribbean Diaspora
The Prime Minister spoke of care, homes and fairness. For the families who helped build post-war Britain, the test is whether “all” includes them.
