Why are men such fragile little butterflies sometimes? I swear, the crap I have had to put up with and being honest and candid gets me called emotional and they cry in meetings and are called good guys. Note, I did not make them cry, other things did.

A few years ago I decided to photograph lepidoptera in every Indiana county. This year I only got 6 new counties thanks to a big surgery. Yesterday was my 78th, at the lovely Wilderness Prairie in Blackford County, which was FULL of Sawtooth Sunflower. #nature #butterflies #photography #indiana

Small Coppers (pic this am), Gatekeepers & Painted Ladies were abundant in our Rye garden this year. There were more Clouded Yellows than ever. Small Tortoiseshells were all but absent. How did caterpillars fare in the drought😬?

People ask if being a VTuber is lonely, but I don't think that's it at all. The screen isn't a wall, it's a window. When the Butterflies show up, the room is full. The tech is just the frame for the actual stuff.

Plate 11 In this beautifully balanced composition, Merian has depicted two Saturniid moths Arsenura armada (Cramer) at top right and bottom left. The larvae are not the early stage of this moth as Merian had thought, but of another species. The plant in the center is the Palisade tree, which can grow sixty-five feet tall and is native to tropical South America. The Saturniid moth has a wide distribution from Mexico to southern Brazil and can vary greatly in appearance.

I keep talking about the butterflies where we live in Texas. We used to see them in swarms over the fields when we were little. Now it's a surprise to see even one. Animals of all kinds, insects included, deserve better from us. We are all vital in our roles of maintaining the ecosystem.

I’ve walked the fields at dawn for years.
The air used to hum with bees. Now it’s quieter every season.
What most people never see is the scale: over 3.7 million tonnes of pesticide active ingredients poured onto the planet every year — more than double what we used in 1990.

We're older, & spent most of our years working & being involved with lots of charity/volunteering.

I now have butterflies, hummingbirds, my garden, books, and she gardens & loves cooking.

We can go weeks w/o dealing w/too many others.
Lots of quiet time to read & reflect.
