Yeah definitely. I think Thayil is the secret sauce for me, Badmotorfinger and Superunknown are just 10/10 albums (for me)

The non singles on both (especially Badmotorfinger) are so good. Some fascinating variety!

Soundgarden — Badmotorfinger (1991)

Throwing in an (anthropomorphic) Soundgarden into this In the Weeds scene. They were a fave of mine back in the halcyon days of the 90's. Badmotorfinger rülz, y'all.

First time I heard Burden In My Hand by Soundgarden I was like 12 and only knew the big hits and Badmotorfinger.
I was like "how have I not heard this gorgeous song by a heavy band?"

Painfully underrated album. While not as consistent as Superunknown or Badmotorfinger, it's every bit as compelling as it pushes their sound and creativity further than ever.

I love unexpected saxophones in 90s rock albums. It made listening to Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger and Mad Season's Above such a treat.

On the quoted tweet that starts of the column, I'm absolutely willing to concede that Everclear were probably a better band than they get credit for. But the take that any of their albums could be better than Dirt or Badmotorfinger, I just can't wrap my head around.
