The Islamic regime is exploiting the chaos to further harass Baháʼís. The Ministry of Intelligence says it has identified a network of 32 Baháʼís accused of involvement in protests. It arrested 12 and summoned 13.

Are they confusing us with Muslims or Baháʼís or something?

1. In the past month, I’ve seen people repeatedly compare the Baháʼí faith to Scientology.

As an expert on Scientology, I cannot begin to express how deeply insulting that is to Baháʼís.

There is nothing on planet Earth like Scientology—nothing.

Ethnic and religious minorities like Kurds, Baluchis, Baháʼís, Sunnis, etc. are repressed. Christians get sentenced to years in prison just for owning a Bible. Converting to Christianity can mean execution, and harsh sentences are often based on mere “personal intuition”.

“Bahi’s” I’m still trying to figure out. Baháʼís? Baja Blast? Bakedanuki
Whoa. Great lineup on both stages this year.

Iran tortured and executed its Bahais into exile, full on medieval pogrom style. Saudi Arabia's not good for Bahai's but Iran is a whole other level.

Ironically for Omid, Bahais are one of the few explicitly trans friendly religions, their view is that trans people are real and to be accepted.*

2. The Baháʼís have long been persecuted by the Islamic Republic through unjust seizures of property and imprisonment, solely on the basis of their religious beliefs.

Not all of them are. Iran also has a Kurdish minority, an Arab minority, a Baluchi minority, an Azeri minority, a Turkmen minority, an Armenian minority and some other ethnic minorities.

Religious minorities in Iran include Sunni Muslims, Christians, Zoroastrians, Jews, Bahais and some others.

(Most of this is maternal side) working our way back in time, my mother raised us as Baha'is. And before anyone yells at me that Bahais aren't fringe or weird, I will be also calling Methodists fringe and weird, so bear with me!

Those Persia Jews who became Bahais did not hope to escape persecution. Bahais were more strongly persecuted than the Jews. It took courage and conviction to become a Bahai, for the price could be high. See D Brookshaw, Explaining Jewish Conversions to the Bahai Faith in Iran.

1844 erklärte sich Ali Muhammad Shirazi zum Propheten, der das Kommen des Erlösers verkündete. Er nannte sich Bāb, das Tor, es entstand der Babismus und daraus wiederum die Bahais. Soweit so bekannt.

Die eigentliche Frage: Was würde passieren, wenn sich in DEU ein Prophet als 'Tor' bezeichnen würde

- the movement was based on spirit possession, mostly cross-gender, so the leader frequently wore women's clothes
- it was both very right-wing *and* outlawed by the government for violating state shinto beliefs
- because of meeting with the Bahais in 1921, they got really into Esperanto

Also, to be honest, I indulged myself. Pari and her family are members of the Bahai Faith and we are near nonexistent in literature or popular media as characters. Sure, Rainn Wilson, but not as a character. Her Persian family are Bahais and Zoroastrian from way back and that's so much fun for me.

It is also notable that the Jewish Bahai families generally remained Bahais for generations, even after emigration, and intermarried with Bahais from Muslim and Christian and other backgrounds. The idea they were crypto-Bahais lacks foundation. But conversion to the Bahai Faith does not mean ...
