#Bankruptcy-($16K
Everyone is fixating on the “who would pay £16k to use a yurt for a weekend” bit of the Glastonbury yurt bankruptcy story.

I am fixated on how a company can successfully charge £16k for people to use a tent for a weekend *and still go bankrupt*. How?!

Healthcare: 26 million more Americans would have health coverage. We'd save $2.1 trillion annually on healthcare ($16K per household). Prescription drugs would cost $691 less per person. Medical bankruptcy—a term that puzzles citizens of other wealthy nations—would essentially disappear.

For those of you keeping track at home & in case I didn't say it: after Alliance "stiffed" us for $16k in invoices (per terms of bankruptcy) when parent Diamond filed for bankruptcy, after they were (some time later) purchased from Diamond by Universal, they fully paid up (recently). Best result.

Actually... I think owning the stock before this point was way more lucrative than owning a Tesla (depreciating car). I did enjoy my Tesla when it worked but when a brick breaks the entire battery has to be replaced and that woulda cost me $16k. Lol no. I let that shit go in my bankruptcy!

is it worth destroying my 670 credit to declare bankruptcy and get rid of $16k in debt?

I won a case against a former employer for $16k. Prior to the judgement, the owner moved the company's assets to its parent company, then the company declared bankruptcy. The only asset left was a bond with a court. That was divied up with a priority of business over employees, so I got nothing.

Those 16k in taxes make it look like it's free from a US perspective. That percentage of US taxes you cite doesn't paint a true picture once you add in what we pay for health insurance plus costs plus the risk of medical bankruptcy

I lived through too many Con govs that made me poorer as a middle class single mom. Never Again. They destroyed the middle class, didn't do anything except create fake programs for jobs that they then said we weren't qualified for. $16k later in student loan debt, bankruptcy. NEVER AGAIN.

Ehh. Even in that article they show it wasn't really for debt. It was because he had a fuckton of debt relative to even his local peers, including more than $16k in credit card debts that he had simply stopped paying, and said he planned to file for bankruptcy to manage it.

It’s a little hyperbole. It’s more like 15-16K across a dozen really active groups. And, yes, I declare bankruptcy reasonably often, but this last two months has been particularly bad, and I’ve been stuck in paralysis between FOMO and how I could possibly consume all of it.

That program helped save US automakers from bankruptcy. I lived in the Detroit area at the time and my $130k house was worth $16k due to all of the foreclosures.

So yeah, it pulled a lot of old cheap cars off the road... but it spurred a lot of new car buying in the process.

After being blindsided by a Bankruptcy, everything spiraled downward. Opportunity cards could have been a bright side, earning almost $16K per card, there just wasn't enough of them. Pay Days outshined all the other investments. The Gambles cards were just a total nightmare with the winners
