The UK needs a fundamental discussion on criminal justice & the ineffectiveness of prisons for lots of offenders. Policy is currently driven by media shouting. Lots of lessons to be learned from Barlinnie SU.

See highly effective 1970s Scottish Prison Service Special Unit, Barlinnie prison, Glasgow. Scotland faced then a fearsome 'hardman' culture. Then-infamous criminal Jimmy Boyle was one example of violent individuals being enabled to reform. Anglo-UK innately prefers to look abroad than to Scotland?

Barlinnie prison had a similar wing decades ago, specifically for the most dangerous violent and truculent men. It had amazing results. It was closed down.
