#Basel🇨🇭Bad Bf in April 2018: pictured here a charter train composed of #DB 🇩🇪 #AKE #Rheingold #TEE #TransEuropExpress carriages, among them several @diningcar.at. The consist, bound for Germany, was hauled by a #BLS Cargo Class 485 #Bombardier #TRAXX electric, certified for operating in🇨🇭and 🇩🇪.

With #Flixtrain from #Basel🇨🇭Bad Bf to #Freiburg i.B. 🇩🇪 earlier today. A #Siemens #Vectron #ELL Class 193 is hauling the consist of former #DB #InterRegio cars. These aren’t exactly fresh air carriages, yet there are some windows that open a bit, just enough for taking a photo.

#Basel🇨🇭Bad. Bf. earlier today: a “slightly” (well, almost three hours) late running #Nightjet #471 from #Hamburg 🇩🇪 makes a station stop here on its way to #Zurich. An #ÖBB 🇦🇹 Class 1116 #Taurus is hauling the train as far as Basel SBB. At the rear of the consist: two ÖBB single level sleepers.

On the #Weil_am_Rhein 🇩🇪 #DB train station webcam just minutes ago: the #Basel🇨🇭(Bad. Bf) to #Berlin #Flixtrain, hauled by a #Siemens Class 193 #Vectron electric, is speeding through the station.

In Basel Bad 🇨🇭🇩🇪 erreichte ich unglaublicherweise einen 3 min-Anschluss für den Transfer zum SBB-Bahnhof. Unglücklicher- und unerfindlicherweise blieb dieser dann dafür 8 Minuten stehen, womit ich den Anschluss nach Bern doch verpasste.

Nach Basel 🇨🇭 fahren - dzt. Bad Tölz

Ab Basel Bad Bf ‚nur‘ zwei Minuten Verspätung in Richtung Norden. In diesem Fall wars der Zoll. Schweizer werden jetzt wieder kontrolliert. 🇨🇭👮🚨

And it seems we are delayed little enough (5 mins) to be allowed in the country even (when German trains are too delayed, the Swiss stop trains at the border at Basel Bad and make everyone use Swiss transit instead, so the carefully planned schedule is not affected)

Perhaps time to introduce some competition on 🇩🇪(🇨🇭)🇮🇹 lines.

The vurrent legal framework rules out competition on SBB in 🇨🇭 internal traffic.

But Basel SBB ↔️ Milano C by through EC via Berne (reversal) with 8 stops only takes 4hrs20min. Not so bad.
