Meanwhile it appears that the people pushed out of the spot near Bayview have found new spots to put up their tents, all within a short walk of the lot the city bulldozed last spring.

On this date in 1981, the Bayview Ghost was finally torn down. It was a half-completed apartment building along the DVP that was abandoned in 1959 when the developers realized that East York would not provide water and sewage facilities.

Ray Robinson grew up in the Bayview where 6 Muni drivers lived on his block. When those neighbors came home, they had “a proud walk” of someone serving their city.
So, when SFMTA was hiring operators in 2000, Robinson did not hesitate.

Agree. The design of LRT to the Ottawa airport, requiring 2 transfers from downtown to the airport, makes the trip inefficient for most travellers. Reducing this to 1 transfer at Bayview running to the airport would help but the line is not built for that.
By contrast #OttCity train service to airport is so infrequent, unreliable and slow it’s hardly worth considering.

I miss it so much sometimes. Especially my last year in #BayView. Living on #LakeMichigan, a mile from the #SouthShore yacht club and close to lakeshore nightlife/concerts, etc. I felt like a Hamptons rich bitch without dealing with actual Hamptons rich bitches 😂
