Sketch Fail of the day. Attempted a bearded lily. Just can’t seem to get the purples quite right. What would Georgia O’Keefe do?!

I took this macro shot or a bearded iris in February, in a close friend’s garden. She is pink, orange, white, purple and yellow.
I saw a Georgia O’Keeffe painting posted this morning, and I was inspired to play with a swirl filter. I love this! Cheers

Moody blue Monday.

Dug out, split and replanted 2 huge clusters of the bearded irises in the backyard garden yesterday. Most are this deep purple color mixed with the lavender blue iris. Planting the leftover rhizomes in the front garden today.

A deep purple bearded iris with frilly petals with a fuzzy bluish strip in the center. 2 petals flop down and 3 form a cup on top. White n pink dianthus grow around the base of the iris plant. The flower stalk is supported by a dark green metal stake. Green leaves are in the background.

Beautiful Blue Monday.

After 4 yrs it is time to dig up all my bearded irises clusters & split them. I noticed that there were less flowers in some of the clusters in spring this year.
Did 24 big clusters & 34 more to go.

A large droopy n flouncy lavender blue bearded iris flower. It has no definite shape but the petals look like droopy puppy's ears...ha. it has creamy white towards the center and there is a fuzzy tail like thing or beards on 2 if the petals. Green long strappy leaves are in one side n a greyish wooden fence n garden soil are on the left side

A lovely picture of a bearded iris just after peak bloom. The white has started to turn and the purple petals are beginning to turn.

It takes strong arms
to support the weight
of a breaking heart.
It takes strong shoulders
to comfort someone
with a grieving soul.
It takes a caring person
to be that strong support.

We walk tall throughout the world,
but even a mighty branch can break.
This is when we seek out a caring person,
who can be our supporting frame.
Someone who will stand by us
when all the others have gone,
our support in time of need.

You need strong arms to hug someone
when they feel they cannot go on.
You need strong shoulders for someone to cry on
within their hour of grief.
You need both of these things
just to be the supporting kind.

It's been a tough month with losing my mum-in-law & I've been taking time off to support my wonderful husband, but today I got to do some painting.
I started this white bearded iris picture at the allotments in Frodsham.
Just looking at them calms me and gives me happy moments!

"Take bread away from me, if you wish,
take air away, but
do not take from me your laughter." ~Pablo Neruda

#BeardedIris #Iris #FlowerReport #ECK #WCK #Art #BloomScrolling #Flowers #Macro #Poetry

Close in shot of a purple bearded iris flower. Shining in the sun, shades of pink and red and blue glisten. Drops of water from the recent rains slowly evaporate in the warm Spring air.

Poem by Pablo Neruda included because I think the flower looks like it is laughing.

"Your Laughter"

Take bread away from me, if you wish,
take air away, but
do not take from me your laughter.

Do not take away the rose,
the lance flower that you pluck,
the water that suddenly
bursts forth in joy,
the sudden wave
of silver born in you.

My struggle is harsh and I come back
with eyes tired
at times from having seen
the unchanging earth,
but when your laughter enters
it rises to the sky seeking me
and it opens for me all
the doors of life.

My love, in the darkest
hour your laughter
opens, and if suddenly
you see my blood staining
the stones of the street,
laugh, because your laughter
will be for my hands
like a fresh sword.

Next to the sea in the autumn,
your laughter must raise
its foamy cascade,
and in the spring, love,
I want your laughter like
the flower I was waiting for,
the blue flower, the rose
of my echoing country.

Laugh at the night,
at the day, at the moon,
laugh at the twisted
streets of the island,
laugh at this clumsy
boy who loves you,
but when I open
my eyes and close them,
when my steps go,
when my steps return,
deny me bread, air,
light, spring,
but never your laughter
for I would die.
~Pablo Neruda
