It’s been what foresters call a mast year. That’s when mature beech trees produce an unusually large quantity of sees (Beech Mast) They were crunching underfoot on my afternoon walk. Apparently the nuts are edible. Might to toast a few in a pan and try them out.

I've gathered some Beech mast - which is plentiful. Will they take these instead?

My 1000l tank just been delivered on the drive. Will be used as an offload/backup tank for this 500l barrel and the planter/butts around the house.
Thought we had enough capacity for a dry summer but was nowhere close this year, so we’ve had to step up our rainwater harvesting efforts.

My artist friend asked if i could collect acorns for her for a project. Saw loads of sweet chestnuts and beech nuts, but a grand total of 3 acorns!
