Among other things, we are finally using OpenCog to control the Hanson robot heads now -- they're not yet doing anything genius, but at least there is something to show, and we can make them smarter and smarter now via integrating more of our OpenCog research code into the robot-control system... (The robot is a concrete focus for combining cognition, language, perception and action ... advantageous in various ways compared to the video-game stuff we were playing with earlier ... but in the end of course it's cognition and learning that are key not the robot, it's just a medium...) As noted in earlier emails, Jim Rutt and Cassio and I have worked out a quite detailed OpenCog project plan for the next 3 years ,which I think would lead us to a (the?) revolutionary breakthrough in AGI. We are proceeding according to this plan already but obviously more funding would accelerate things. We have talked to some HNW individuals recently who have made positive noises, but noises aren't money ... still, even with our current inadequate funding we are making more progress than in previous years, which is really rewarding and fun for me... these are awesome times for AI, and it's just gonna get better...
