A grayscale image shows asteroid Bennu, captured by the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft. Ejecta, likely gravel and small rocks, is seen streaming away from the asteroid's surface, illustrating the unexpected discovery of ejection events on Bennu. The image highlights the mystery surrounding the ejection mechanism, with theories ranging from meteoroid impacts to thermal fracturing and water vapor release. The data suggests that larger particles fall back to the asteroid's surface while smaller particles escape its low gravity.
