I've a pair of aluminum Benro MeFoto Roadtrip versions that I bought 2nd hand. Both can convert to a monopod. I saved a lotta bucks too, paid $20 for one $70 for the other. Probably $700 ish if I bought 'em new from camera shop, not including the 13% Ontario HST.

Benro MiniMax Review: The Best Monopod For Bird Photography
The Benro MiniMax gonopod is a revelation of sorts in terms of size and weight without the sacrifice of stability. Once in a while a photography accessory comes along that makes you question your previous choices in the genre; and this is totally one of them. Monopods have been around for ages, and I've certainly used more than a handful during my career so far. For the most part, they've all been slightly different from each other, but I've tended to lean towards beefier models for want of stability.

in the process of finding him, my tripod head BROKE STRAIGHT OFF, and by pure chance my scope happened to be in a position that allowed me to catch it before it hit the rocks so I’m considering him my lucky duck.
(free tip for other birders: never buy a benro tripod, overpriced flimsy crap)

The Pop Socket fits in an Arca Swiss quick release clamp. This is how I attend my Telehealth appointments...I pull my digitizing camera off the copy stand and whip the PS into the AS and mag my phone to it. I used to use a Benro Sidekick on a light stand but this is my go-to now.

1/4 For 4x5 I quickly found that a tripod ball head just didn't work for me, everything moved too quickly and was difficult to refine position. So I used my geared 3 Way head from Benro, worked perfectly but permanently attached to my big tripod, so it was just too big and heavy.
