In more positive news, I have a satisfyingly large amount of paint pans to top up today, including 2 oranges that really mess with my phone camera (benzimidazole orange PO36 and Marigold PY74+PR254.)

Others include golden green, sap green, green earths, shale, my local clay, & alizarine. My babies!
Rows upon rows of watercolour paint pans, in various stages of being filled with layers of liquid paint and dried. They're laid out in tins, to which they're held with small magnets on the pans. The colours are mostly greens, browns and dark reds, but two particularly bright shades of orange stand out.

If you want to know what optimism looks like, it's me putting on a clean shirt before making a big batch of benzimidazole yellow (PY154.)

Not sure what I built in the corner with my mulled paint pile, either
Bright yellow watercolour paint being made on a glass plate. In the top right corner is a thick lumpy mound of partially mulled paint. In the top left corner is a gloopy, glossy, smooth pile of fully mulled paint. In the centre of the plate, there's a glass mulling tool (it looks like an upside down glass mushroom with a flat top) in the middle of a slick of yellow paint that is in the process of being mulled. Mulling is the process of thoroughly incorporating solid pigment powder into liquid watercolour binder, by using the glass muller to grind a thin layer of paint against the glass plate. The pile of fully mulled paint from the top left corner of the plate. It looks like a pile of very shiny, gloopy, bright yellow slime-balls. I don't know else to describe it.
