The Rwandan Persecution. The Armenian Kerfuffle. The Biafran Oopsie-Doopsie.

Fuck this shit.
Beyond disagreements over Gaza, the UK Holocaust Memorial Day Trust recently decided that they will only use the word "genocide" to describe the Holocaust, and will use "persecution" for Rwanda, Bosnia, Cambodia, and Darfur. www.haaretz.com/opinion/2026...

En ymmärrä miksi joku närkästyy siitä, että Biafran kansallislaulua lauletaan Palestiina-mielenoaoituksessa uudelleen sanoitettuna.

Hey everybody. I’m an American who skimmed a Wikipedia article while mostly sober and I have OPINIONS about the ethnic politics of the fourteenth largest militia in the Biafran War of 1967-1970.

I remind myself that my grandparents survived the brutal Biafran war in Nigeria with my mom + her siblings.

My grandma and mother fled literal bombs, bounced from house to house, and ate what they could catch in the forest.

So many of our forebears faced worse, with less.

How can I be afraid?

Jos esittää mielenosoituksessa Finlandian sijasta Biafran valtion (1967–1970) kansallishymnin (jonka sävel on sama kuin Finlandiassa) omilla sanoilla, saako silloinkin peräänsä Sibeliuksen perikunnan?

*spits* No! We're the Dniepropetrovsk O'Mulligans, and we have sworn death to the Kharkiiv O'Mulligans and their shiftless ilk, ever since out clans first crossed swords during the Biafran War

"In Nigerian history books, that period between 1966 and 1970 is called The Nigerian Civil War or The Nigerian-Biafran war. But for those of us whose families lived through it, it is an erasure of truth not to name it The Biafran Genocide."

The Times obit on Freddie Forsyth says he left the BBC in 1967 because he displeased powerful people by his reporting from Biafra. No. He put Biafran propaganda into his reports and was sacked — and went on to write one of the best thrillers ever.

This is almost certainly just stupid twitter and 4chan shit flowing through groyper staffers.

However, it would be infinitely funnier if this is Trump actually getting Frederick Forsythe-pilled and becoming a Biafran nationalist.

Not aware of Ed Miliband doing anything quite a heinous as the equivalent of the Biafran War, but you do you, Kemi.
“Ed Miliband is like a military dictator” is the kind of sentence that should get your phone immediately taken away from you for being Terminally Too Online
I'm sorry, what?

Nixon campaign was fascinating because he also said that the Biafran War was genocide and attacking Johnson over it but then did nothing different while in office.

I will talk about the Igbo man I sat beside on the plane who knew people from my family and was a child soldier (“voluntarily”) in the Biafran Civil War later.

For now, I need a nap. I’m meeting Nigeria’s U.S. Consulate Representative in a few hours.

He was Igbo and he’d been a child soldier during the Biafran Civil War. He started with, “The first half of the way was wonderful!” My jaw fell open. He explained this was because everyone came home from all over Nigeria, fleeing the killing.

Then he saw the train loads of bodies…

"2020 signalled the turn of a new decade and the 50th anniversary of the end of the Nigeria-Biafra War...In an unprecedented way, media brought into our homes the horrors of warfare and its consequences, creating, as a result, ‘the world’s first televised war’."

Very excited for Kemi to do a speech entirely about the Biafran war at some point.
we've all had fun with the "I will not touch moist bread" thing, but the bit of the Kemi interview that deserves more scrutiny is the part where she calls north Nigerians her "ethnic enemies"

There’s so much to learn. It’s interesting because I knew about MSF through the Biafran war.

There may be another update to this soon, I'm still trying to figure out a way of working the Biafran War into it. 😅

"Was the Biafran War morally correct" - the greatest thread in the history of forums, locked by a moderator after 12,239 pages of heated debate,
Also, while this may be unpopular among the Paradox Map-Painting Game school of historical justice scholars on the internet, "this nation was an invention of the early 20th century" is not a very good rinse because almost no one can remember that time anymore.

Neo-Biafran separatists?

I can dig out my dissertation!!!

I know a priest who is literally an Igbo from northern Nigeria and just barely survived the pogroms at the beginning of the civil war because of Muslim family friends and his takeaway from it was not retreating into Biafran identitarianism but rather a desire for Nigerian national solidarity

Nigerian security forces fire tear gas to disperse protesters near the Transcorp Hilton hotel in the capital Abuja, who were demanding the release of detained Biafran separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu, witnesses said.

I am 73 years old. There are photos which have stayed with me across the decades. The ones of the starving children from the Biafran War in my teen years. The "Napalm Girl" photo from the Vietnam War. This photo of little Liam Ramos will haunt many people for the rest of their lives. #BringLiamHome

"Yet sadly, this is how most Nigerians tell the story of the Biafran Genocide; disregarding its cause and pretending that it was a war to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity instead of one fuelled by years of ethnic tensions and concerns over resource control."
